About me

Hey and welcome to my design ponderings.

I’m Marie and I’ve been a graphic designer for more than 20 years. Born and bred in East Germany, I’d always been interested in art and painting as a child, and was lucky enough to get my hands on an apprenticeship in a design studio after I left school. By then the Berlin Wall had fallen and the wider world of design, music and art was out there for me to discover. Chance led me to London and that’s where I’m working today as a freelance graphic designer.

I started this blog as a collection of all design things I like. It’s my completely subjective view on design – often decided on gut feeling and personal preference – so you probably won’t find it highly educational. It’s just meant to be a bit of fun and a toolkit for me to get inspiration from when juices run low.

My taste is highly influenced by being a rock chick, so dark colours, bats, skulls and grungy patterns will predominate. Feel free to comment or send me a message but please keep it polite. I’m not interested in elitist discussions about what is ‘allowed’ in design – the internet is full of them and I find they don’t add anything to the world; they just stifle creativity.

Anyway, enjoy the read and – more importantly – the pictures! And add your own if you like.

PS: I’m also writing a blog whenever I travel to Seattle. It’s my favourite place on earth! Also check out my website for my graphic design work.
